Preventive Dentistry was established in 1963 by Dr Noel Egan, whose preventive approach to dental care was ahead of its time. He was instrumental in the recognition and registration of Dental Hygiene as a profession, and was the first ACT dentist to employ a dental hygienist in the late 1970s.
Preventive Dentistry was originally located in the BMI building in Canberra City, later moving to Braddon before relocating to its current location at the purpose built McKay Gardens Professional Centre in Turner.
The practice has employed many excellent clinicians over the years. Some have formed their own practices and some have continued on to become dental specialists.
In 1997, Dr Stephen Lising joined Preventive Dentistry. After 2 years, it was decided that the natural progression would be for Noel to step aside and hand over the reigns to Steve. Noel retired in 1999 leaving his patients in the capable hands of Steve and the team, while he and his family continue to visit the practice for their own dental care.
Over the years Preventive Dentistry has grown to keep up with the demand for our services. We are constantly keeping abreast of the latest advances in dentistry, whilst maintaining the high standards that Preventive Dentistry is renowned for.
